Ingredients
- 1 half-gallon apple cider
- 3 allspice berries or 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground or fresh ginger
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- Zest of one orange
- 2 whole cloves
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
Procedure
- Heat the apple cider in a medium heavy saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk in remaining ingredients and bring to a slow boil.
- Turn the heat down to low and simmer for approximately half an hour.
- Strain through a fine mesh strainer, garnish with cinnamon sticks, and serve.
Note: If you have a tea ball, the spices can be placed inside and simply removed prior to serving.
